That's because in the first half of tonight's 93-65 victory at Northeastern, she knocked down the first three of her career on just her second long-distance try in more than two seasons with the Red Foxes. With Marist up 28-12, Fitz took an Erica Allenspach pass and pulled up from beyond the arc, sinking the shot to the delight of the rest of the Red Foxes.Hence, I kicked off my post-game conversation with her with one question: What, you're hitting threes now?!
“It was neat,” she said. “I didn’t really know where I was on the floor, but I thought, ‘OK, I’ll shoot it.’ My whole team went crazy.”
Fitz showed more range, hitting several jumpers from outside the paint, much to the delight of head coach Brian Giorgis.
“Rachele had a pretty special game,” said Giorgis, happy to see Fitz increase her range. “Her game has evolved, and we need it to evolve.”
Evolved? Yes. But don't expect any more three from Fitz this year.
"I'm done for the season with those," she said with a laugh.
