Tonight's win was the 141st for Giorgis at Marist, moving him out of a tie with Ken Babineau (1986-1998) for tops on the Red Foxes' all-time list. The milestone comes in just the second game of Giorgis' seventh year at Marist; he took the Red Foxes' helm after the team went 11-17 overall in 2001-02."It's nice," Giorgis just told me on the phone from Boston, "but I didn't get into this for those things."
Junior forward Rachele Fitz, though, was very excited about her coach's latest accomplishment.
"It's great," she said. "We're just so happy for him."
The Red Foxes tied another record tonight, scoring 93 points; that's the most Marist has scored under Giorgis, and the second time the Red Foxes have reached the 93-point plateau.
"I'll take 90 points or more any time," Giorgis said with a laugh.
